This assessment identifies your preferred approach in handling conflict. Thomas and Killman identified five modes of conflict management almost 50 years ago. We all use each of these depending on the context.
  1. Winning is you believe you have the right solution and you must prove you are right whatever it takes.
  2. Avoiding is not pursuing your own solution or those of the other person.
  3. Yielding is neglecting your own interests and giving in to those of the other person.
  4. Compromising is finding a middle ground in the conflict.
  5. Resolving is working with the other person to find the best solution.
